Brazil, guest of honor 2024

Welcome Brazil!

The 36th edition of the Bogotá International Book Fair (FILBo) will have Brazil as guest of honor, following the tradition of highlighting nations that play a relevant role in the world literary scene. Under the motto "Reading Nature", the Brazilian pavilion promises a varied program that harmoniously combines literature, culture and nature.

Brazil·s presence at FILBo dialogues about this meeting of culture and nature in a single existence, with the power to open ancestral, diverse and contemporary conversations, reminding us of the inheritance of cultural biomes.

Visitors are invited to explore the paths of Brazilian literature, to immerse themselves in the pages of established and emerging authors, and to understand the complexity of the country through their words. The pavilion aims to create an immersion in Brazilian biomes and culture, exploring the natural peculiarities, especially the Amazon, that we share with the host country in territory and literature.

Thinking about the relationship between culture and nature, in the context of Brazil·s presence at FILBo, means imagining cultural biomes and public policies that cultivate Brazilian bibliodiversity and allow life and art to flourish with all its beings and species.

Over the centuries, each of Brazil·s biomes has served as a rich source of inspiration for writers, poets, and storytellers, shaping narratives that capture the complexity and beauty of nature. The connection between biomes and literature is a fundamental part of Brazil·s cultural identity, enriching the national literature with an unparalleled bibliodiversity of voices and perspectives.

The Brazilian pavilion at FILBo 2024 will feature not only a large bookstore with copies of authors from different backgrounds and aesthetic perspectives, but also artistic exhibitions that will highlight the influence of biomes on literary production. In addition, there will be presentations and conversations with writers, fostering an enriching dialogue on the relationship between Brazilian culture, nature and artistic expression.

Brazil at FILBo is a contribution to the debates on culture and nature in its bibliodiversity, a thought of confluence, highlighting, for example, indigenous and Afro-Brazilian narratives and cosmovisions as perceptions that reconnect and compose.

Brazil·s participation in FILBo 2024 is possible thanks to partnerships between cultural organizations, including the Colombian Book Chamber, Corferias, the Brazilian Embassy in Colombia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture. The Brazilian pavilion will have a large space of 3,000 square meters, offering visitors an immersive and sensory literary journey through the country and its territories.

The cultural program will include exhibitions, tributes to representative names of contemporary Brazilian literature, audiovisual content, national handicrafts and a gastronomic space highlighting the diversity of Brazilian cuisine.

Thus, Brazil will be the Guest of Honor at FILBo 2024, celebrating not only the richness of its literary production and its bibliodiversity, but also the intimate relationship between culture and nature and the artistic expressions that arise from it. The theme "Reading Nature" is an invitation to immerse ourselves in Brazilian culture and reflect on the different relationship with the world that both literature and nature allow us to have.

A relationship with the world enabled by both literature and nature. Both will be present in a unique and captivating way at the heart of the Bogotá International Book Fair.

See you from April 17 to May 2!
